the song's title occured to me sort of the same way "twenty-four rue" did, but i wasn't sure what it would be about until it was written. as it turned out, the twenty-five square feet is the desk i had at my old job (i resigned just over a week ago) and most of the verse lyrics come from notes i wrote to myself during my three years there.
there was supposed to be a keyboard part in there somewhere, but i forgot to write it, and now i'm too happy with the end result to change anything.
